PVC Lubricants

The processing of PVC requires wax as a lubricant apart from stabilisers. Our waxes are used mainly for regulating the gelling behaviour of lead-stabilised PVC compounds and for improving the surface of finished articles made from them. Due to their plastifying-retarding effect, they are very economical external lubricants. They are ideal lubricants for barium/cadmium stabilisers profiles. They can be used to replace a large proportion of the fatty acid esters which act as internal lubricants and further impair the heat distortion resistance which is already critical with barium/cadmium stabilisation. By using a polyethylene wax, the flow of the elasticised PVC is improved and friction between the elasticised PVC and the metal part of the machine is reduced. Users of polyethylene waxes report to have found that they reduce the energy consumption and increase the quality of the surface of the finished product giving the profiles a smooth surface even with a high pigment and filler content, without impairing the weld ability of the profiles.
