Textile
Anionic-non ionic, cationic and non ionic (sometimes in combination with paraffin) are preferably used for this application. They are used as a component of the sizing bath to give a smooth tact and water resistance to the textile. In sizing baths for high quality finishes which do not need crease and ironing, the emulsions improve the break and abrasion resistance as well as ease sewing. These properties are frequently reduced by the resins used. When using emulsions of low emulsifier content, the textile material increase its resistance to dirt and water. It is important to remark that it is necessary a good stability of the emulsion to be applied within this industrial sector against the electrolytes and catalyst salts. Anionic-non ionic emulsions are completely stables to 5% solutions of monoammonium phosphate, zinc nitrate and magnesium chloride at 20ºC, as well as to the 0,5% solution of sodium sulphate at 100ºC.
